CHESHIRE - Jessie M. Waszmer, 72 , passed away Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut Bradley Memorial Campus. She was the wife of the late Roger F. Waszmer who passed away in 2006.

Jessie was born January 24, 1938 in Sherman, NY the daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth (Calhoun) Near. She attended the Albany campus SUNY University and after raising her family she obtained her Associates Degree in Business at Mattatuck Community College. She then worked for

John Garrity CPA.

Jessie was an active member of First Congregational Church of Cheshire, for over 50 years. She served as Sunday school secretary and administrative assistant. She was a member of the Colonizers and served as a Deacon. She assisted in her talent areas in many church activities. She was also a Red Cross volunteer for over 20 years.

Jessie is survived by her son Roger K. Waszmer of Chehsire; her daughters Lisa Hawley of Waterbury, and Christine Hatfield and her husband Stevan of Falconer, NY; her sister Ina Griswold of Clymer, NY; four grandchildren Samantha and Daniel Hawley and Roger and Emily Hatfield; two great grandchildren Jack Lacey and Shane Hawley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA of Central Connecticut, 56 W. Main Street, Plainville, CT 06062.
