CHESHIRE - Helen S. Mertens, 94, passed away peacefully Thursday April 30, 2015 at Elim Park Baptist Home. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. Mertens Sr.

Helen was born May 11, 1920 on Sunny Fields Farm in Wallingford the daughter of the late Clarence L. Sibley and Marion S. Sibley. She was a resident of Elim Park for the last eleven years, and looked forward to playing Bridge every Monday. Helen was an active parishioner of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Helen leaves a son, Raymond H. Mertens, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Bristol; her daughter Lynn M. Bibbo and her husband Michael of West Chester, PA; three grandchildren Maureen H. Hattersley of Stow, MA, Jared L. Mertens and his wife Robin of Hollis, ME, and Michael R. Bibbo and his wife Elizabeth of Conshohocken, PA; three great grandchildren, Megyn and Graeme Mertens of Hollis, ME., and Lauren Mertens-Hattersley of Stow, MA. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Charles Sibley as well as her grandchild, Kimberly Bibbo.

Arrangements- Funeral Services for Helen will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to, The Elim Park Resident Benevolent Fund, c/o Elim Park, 140 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Cheshire, is assisting the family with arrangements.
