Gregory Matthew Camputaro

Gregory Matthew “Greg” Camputaro, age 38, of Meriden and formerly of Cheshire passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Greg was born on May 23, 1983 in New Haven, son of Michael and Barbara (Sagar) Camputaro.

Greg grew up in Cheshire where he met many of his closest friends of whom he had continued to make memories with as they grew into adults. He was a graduate of Cheshire High School, Class of ’01. His love of sports started at a young age, where he played youth hockey with Middlesex and on local baseball leagues. His passion for hockey continued as he played for the Cheshire High School Hockey team and on various Men’s League teams. His hockey teammates were like his brothers and their bond was special. He also enjoyed playing softball locally and in tournaments with his friends. Greg worked as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local 90 in Wallingford, of whom he felt a true brotherhood. He was also very proud to operate his own small business, Camputaro Electric, LLC. He enjoyed camping and bar-b-ques, rooting for the NY Rangers, Red Sox and Giants, watching WWE with his brother and spending time with his family and many loving friends. He had the biggest heart and would helping anyone in need at a moments notice, all with his classic Greg charisma and bright smile. He was selflessly committed to charity work and fundraising for several causes and organizations and always supported his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Mike and Barbara of Cheshire, Greg is survived by his best friend and brother, Jeff Camputaro and Jeff’s wife Bethany of Cheshire and his cherished nieces, Seraphina and Vera. He also adored his beloved rottweiler, Lord Stanley. He leaves many loving aunts and uncles, cousins whom he felt were more like siblings, numerous Godchildren and many “honorary” nieces and nephews of close friends. Above all, Greg loved his family and friends beyond measure and was truly one of a kind. He will always be remembered as the strongest fighter who never ever gave up and maintained the best and most positive outlook through his battle with MDS and AML.

His family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the nurses, doctors, aides and staff at Smilow for all the love they’ve shown and compassionate care they provided to Greg.

Friends may greet Greg’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Monday, May 2, from 4PM until 7PM.
