Gertrude Annie Roones

CHESHIRE- Gertrude Annie (Trudy) Roones, 90, died on December 3, 2014, at Elim Park in Cheshire, CT. She was born in Everett, MA, to John and Ada (Windsor) Hickman. She was married for nearly 68 years to Orville Roones, who predeceased her in May 2014.

Trudy was a devoted mother to her three sons: David (Patty) Roones of Bloomfield, CT; Steven (Terri) Roones of Clovis, CA; and Kevin (Glenna) Roones of Stamford, CT. Also left to mourn are her sisters Barbara (Gregory) Constantine and Joan Cummings, both of Ocala, FL; and grandchildren Nathan and Rachel Roones of West Hartford, CT; Karen and Stephanie Roones of Stamford, CT; Daniel Olmos of Portland, OR; and Kimberly Nottingham of Clovis, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother, Alfred Hickman, also predeceased Trudy.

She was a long-time resident of Stamford, CT, where she was a member of Stamford Baptist Church and retired from GE Capital. Trudy enjoyed friends throughout her life at her churches, church choirs, square-dancing clubs and bridge clubs. Her retirement years took her to Pisgah Forest, NC where she was an active member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church and an avid volunteer for Sharing House. Later, Trudy lived in Port Charlotte, FL before moving to Cheshire.

Arrangements- A private burial for Mrs. Roones will be held in the State of Connecticut Veterans' Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Plans for a memorial service are incomplete.
