Francis LeVasseur

Francis E. LeVasseur passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. He was the husband of the late Joyce M. McCarthy. They were married for 62 years.

Francis was born in Hartford in 1919 and was the son of the late Francis J. and Gertrude (Hemingway) LeVasseur.

Francis served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on a subchaser and fought in major naval battles at Salerno and Anzio. He worked at the Allen Manufacturing Co. as a metallurgist and retired after 40 years of service.

He is survived by one daughter Jeanne LeVasseur and her husband David. He is predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Donald LeVasseur, and one sister, Vivian Guica.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 4,2009 from 5 to 7 pm at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 S. Main St. Cheshire, CT. Friends and relatives are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 5,2009 at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery.
