Frances J. Davis

CHESHIRE - Frances Joan Davis (nee Jenkins), passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on January 2, 2017. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” Davis.

She was born March 18, 1931 in Durham, NC, the daughter of the late Roy and Pauline (Haswell) Jenkins. Fran was the matriarch of a small but tight knit family, putting down roots in the town of Cheshire in the late 60s. Raised in North Carolina, she brought her steely Southern charm with her when she moved north. She was a longtime employee of AT&T, and retired early to travel the country with Bob and spend time in nature and with friends and family. She was a devout and active member of the Cheshire Lutheran Church. Later in life, she developed a passion for painting and became extremely accomplished in her methods. Above all, she treasured her family and committed herself to their happiness and success.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Michael Daley of Cheshire and Lynn Daley of Wallingford; her brother, Roy Jenkins; her four grandchildren Cara, Brenda, Kylle, and Graig, and seven great-grandchildren Elijah, Sophia, Olivia, John, Mila, Havana, and Charles. Besides her parents Fran was predeceased by her brother Lester V. Mitchell and her granddaughter Fae Mulligan.

Arrangements - A service will be held to commemorate the life of Fran at the Cheshire Lutheran Church 660 West Main St., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cheshire Lutheran Church or the Cheshire Land Trust, P.O. Box 781, Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
