Frances C. Doherty

CHESHIRE - Frances C. Doherty, 96, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022. She was the wife of the late James Doherty Sr., the love of her life, who passed away in 2013.

Mrs. Doherty was born December 3, 1925, in Bernardsville, NJ, the daughter of the late Henry and Cecelia (Hjertzpe) Steffens. She was a longtime Cheshire resident where she was a Substitute Teacher for the Cheshire school system. In support of her husband as a Firefighter and Fire Marshal for the town, Mrs. Doherty was a charter member of the Cheshire Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children Paul Doherty (Kathy), James Doherty Jr. (Carol), Jeff Doherty (Cindy), Brian Doherty (Mitzie); her grandchildren Heather Hodges (Harper), and Bretta Doherty (Shane).

Arrangements- Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 3 to 5 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Monday morning at 9:30 and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am.
