MIDDLETOWN- Eric Michael Garthwait, 51, passed away Friday August 28, 2015 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Kimberly Garthwait.
He was born February 3, 1964 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph W. Sr. and Ruth Theresa (Ronalter) Garthwait.
Eric was a Master Craftsmen for 30 years with Brewer Yacht Yards prior to his retirement. All his life, he loved the water and boating. He was an avid Yankee, Celtic, and all around sports fan.
Besides his wife, Eric is survived by his stepson Jeremy Smith; two brothers Joseph and his wife Janet Garthwait of Cheshire, and David and his wife Cindy Garthwait of North Haven; two sisters Ellen O’Brien of Waterbury, and Karen and her husband William Siwy of Califorina; sister-in-law Carolyn Garthwait of Cheshire; his granddaughter Autumn Smith; fifteen nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Gregory and Mark D. Garthwait.
Arrangements- Calling hours for Eric will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 4 to 5:30 P.M at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410. A service will be held at 5:30 P.M to conclude calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in his name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
