CHESHIRE - Eleanor Mae Arnold Nowie, 91, passed away Wednesday September 12, 2012 at the Summit of Plantsville. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter T. Nowie.

Born in Stafford Springs, October 29, 1920, Mrs. Nowie was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Bassett) Arnold. She was an Ashford, CT resident before moving to Waterbury in 1933 then to Cheshire in 1958. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth (formerly of Waterbury) where she was very active. Mrs. Nowie was a U.S. Navy WAVES veteran stationed in Washington, D.C. She was an avid UCONN Husky Football, UCONN Men's Basketball, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching the PGA.

Mrs. Nowie is survived by her son Glenn R. Nowie and his wife Juliann of Cheshire; her daughter Pamela Nowie Fickel and her husband Richard of Southington; her grandchildren Kyle R. Fickel and his wife Emily, Alison L. Fickel and her boyfriend Nick Palazzo, and Emily Beebe; her brother John Arnold; her sister-in-law Carolyn Nowie; her brother-in-law Rodney Deleon as well as many cousins nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Carol Kogut, Lois Garthwaite and Blanche Arnold.

Arrangements - A Memorial service will be held on Saturday September 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Plymouth, North Street, Plymouth. Burial will be held in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church 2-4 North St., P.O Box 121, Plymouth, CT 06782. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
