CHESHIRE- Eileen Thelma Regina DellaRocco Maurizi, 88, of Cheshire, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Elim Park Baptist Home.

Eileen was born in Schenectady, New York on September 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Elizabeth (Casey) DellaRocco. She attended Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut and worked as an inspector for General Electric in Schenectady before moving back to the New Haven area. She also lived in Hollywood, Florida before settling on the shoreline in Milford, Connecticut. Later in her life, she resided at Bella Vista in New Haven.

Eileen was an artist and a poet with a sensitive soul and a free spirit. She loved the ocean, trees and lighthouses, which were frequent subjects of her artwork. She had a big heart and a giving personality, which led her to always look for ways to help others. For the last 13 years of her life, she was a well-loved resident of Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire, where she was an active participant in daily activities and groups including the poetry club.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Lisa Maurizi Franco and son-in-law, Joe Franco of Cheshire, Connecticut, her sisters Gladys Boland of Syracuse, New York, Rhea Fitzgerald of Summerville, South Carolina and Connie Hiltsley of Schenectady, New York, her brother Michael DellaRocco of Schenectady, New York, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura, her sister Kathleen Fabrizio of Rochester, New York, her former husband Nino Maurizi of Cheshire, Connecticut and several loving in-laws.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the devoted staff of Elim Park for their respectful and loving care of Eileen during the last years of her life.

Arrangements- A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 10 at 2:30p.m at the Elim Park Baptist Home, 150 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, in Christ Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mike and Bob Scoopo Medical Fund, Webster Bank, 200 Division St., Ansonia, CT 06401.
