Edward M. 'Ned' Considine

Edward Michael “Ned” Considine

Ned Considine, a long-time resident of Cheshire, passed away on January 27 after a brief illness. He was born on May 7,1941 in Waterbury to the late Edward M. Considine and Catherine (Tangney) Considine.

Proud of his Waterbury roots, Ned would recount warm tales of his diverse and closely-knit neighborhood. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1959, he attended the University of Connecticut (class of 1963), where his interests ranged from ROTC and membership in the Theta Chi Fraternity, to playing in party bands with his beloved 1956 Fender Stratocaster.

Soon after earning his CPA he established his accounting practice in Cheshire where he was an active member of the community for the past forty-seven years. His special interests in the community included the Elks, the Masons, Rotary and Hospice.

Ned was also proud of his Irish heritage and made many trips to Ireland. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club.

Ned was, at his core, a voracious reader who took exemplary advantage of the Cheshire Public Library. He loved to play golf and was a loyal but critical fan of the Yankees, the Giants and UConn sports. He was one of a select group of “philosophers” who could be found debating current events and the meaning of life at the Victorian House Restaurant.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his son, Liam Considine, his wife, Alison, and their three children, Timothy, Margaret and Bridget of Cheshire; his son, Brendan Considine, his wife, Katrina Zafiriadis and their daughters, Marilena and Calista of Pelham, NY. He is also survived by his former wife and life-long friend, Maryellen (Peters) Considine-Woolley.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on February 11 at St. Peter’s Church in Cheshire at 10:00 am, to be followed by a celebration of his life at the Waverly Tavern in Cheshire.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ned’s memory to Special Olympics Connecticut, Inc.

The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with his arrangements.
