WATERBURY- Edgardo Soto Sr., 63, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Barbara Jean (Whitney) Soto whom he shared his life with for 31 years.
Mr. Soto was born August 23, 1957 in Guanica, Puerto Rico to the late German and Abigail (Mejil) Soto.
Edgardo was an officer with the Connecticut Department of Correction prior to his retirement. He was an avid fan of UCONN basketball, the New York Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed playing basketball and softball, deep-sea fishing, trying new restaurants, and listening to music, particularly Santana. Above all, his joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Daniel, Kaylee, and Dempsey. He will be remembered for his kind and loving nature, and his great sense of humor.
Mr. Soto is survived by his son Edgardo Soto Jr., and his wife Jennifer of Middlebury; step-children Liza, Vito, and Anthony Schiavo all of Waterbury; his siblings Herman Soto and his wife Rosalina of Sebring, FL, Zaida and Victor Cuevas of Waterbury, as well as several close cousins, nieces, nephews, and many life long friends. He was predeceased by his brother Luis Soto.
The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704, is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
