Douglas R. Nelson

CHESHIRE – Douglas R. Nelson, 80, passed away Monday June 29, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of JoAnn (Younkins) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson was born April 29, 1940, in New Haven, son of the late Nels R. and Margaret (Fritz) Nelson. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a retired Teamster.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Nelson is survived by his son, Nels A. Nelson of Seymour, his daughters, Stacy M. Nelson of Middletown and Laura A. Nelson of Cheshire, and sister, Virginia (Nelson) Dickerman of Hamden. He also leaves behind six grandchildren.

Arrangements: A graveside service, with Military Honors, will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane Middletown. There will be no calling hours and the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, is assisting with arrangements.
