Cheshire - Donald A. Curran, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a brief illness.

Mr. Curran was born June 13, 1935 in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., a son of the late Francis and Irene (Duane) Curran. He was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as well as Oak Lane Country Club in Woodbridge, where he worked as Head Golf Professional.

Don served 2 tours of duty in the U.S. Army, after which he received an Honorable Discharge. He was a board member of the Connecticut Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America, and also Junior Golf Chairman for 2 years. While at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Don was a manager and in later years a sales representative. He was also a board member of the Greater New Haven NAIFA, where he served as the Professional Development Chair, and was past president of the Cheshire Rotary Club.

Mr. Curran is survived by his son, Gregg Curran, and his daughters, Cindy Ratchelous and Priscilla Curran. He will also be missed by his three grandchildren, Sarah Curran, Billy Ratchelous and Kinsey Ratchelous, and his good friends, Charlie and Diane Audet. He was predeceased by his brother, James Curran.

Arrangements- Calling hours for Mr. Curran will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. Prayers and words of remembrance will be shared at 7:00 P.M to conclude calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions, in Don’s name, may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd,, Branford, CT 06405.
