CHESHIRE - Charles J. Hague, 81, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Regency House of Wallingford. He was the husband of Vilma (Swanson) Hague.

Mr. Hague was born May 7, 1932 in New Haven, the son of the late John and Rosa (Doerrer) Hague. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Hillhouse High School and continued his education at New Haven State Teachers College and the University of Connecticut obtaining his Masters and 6th Year Certificate in Education. He began his career teaching in the Cheshire School System in 1956 where he worked at several elementary schools. Throughout his time with the school system he served as Principal of both Chapman and Highland Elementary Schools before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Hamden Elks Lodge #2224. A lifelong Cheshire resident, Mr. Hague enjoyed spending time at his winter home with his wife in Naples, FL. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan.

Besides his wife of 57 years, Mr. Hague is survived by his children Charles Hague Jr. and his wife Sue of Cheshire, and Richard Hague and his wife Lisa of Cheshire, Kristin Gallagher and her husband Rick of Litchfield; his sisters Nancy Verneris of Hamden and Marjorie Roy of Amherst, NH; his grandchildren Kyle Gallagher, Collin Gallagher, Jason Hague, Alyssa Hague, Lauren Hague, Emily Hague, and Caroline Hague. He is predeceased by his brother-in-laws Raymond Verneris and John Roy.

Arrangements - Funeral services will be held Thursday April 24, 2014, 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 S. Main St. to St. Thomas Becket Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.
