Betty Morrissey

CHESHIRE- Betty Vail Morrissey, 81, passed away July 28, 2011 at Masonicare in Wallingford. She was a longtime resident of Cheshire, also living in Clermont, FL. She was the wife of John F. Morrissey Jr.

Betty was born August 18, 1929 in Danbury daughter of the late George D. and Helen (Fairchild) Vail.

Before starting a family, Betty worked as a Fashion Buyer in New York City. She left to become a "Ski Bum" and waitress in Sun Valley, Idaho. Subsequently, she was a member of the Lasell College Alumni Association, the Cheshire Garden Club, the Farms Country Club and the Farms Women's Golf Association.

Besides her husband Betty is survived by three sons David V. Morrissey and his wife Lisa of Winchester, MA, J. Gary Morrissey and his wife Trish of New Hartford, and William L. Morrissey and his wife Mary Carol of Southington; and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements- A Graveside Service for Betty will be held at the convenience of the family at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. is assisting with arrangements. Donations in Betty's name may be made to Masonic Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
