SOUTHINGTON- Bernard J. Johnson, 92, affectionately known as "JuJu" by family and friends, of Southington formerly of Waterbury passed away peacefully June 2, 2012 at his home. He was the devoted husband of Ila Mae (Baker) Johnson.

Bernie was born in Waterbury on December 3, 1919 to the late Franz and Selma Johnson. He graduated from Leavenworth High School, became a tool and dye maker and later General Foreman at the Risdon Manufacturing Company in Waterbury where he worked for 50 years before his retirement.

He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the United States Navy. He belonged to the Gota Lejon Ingeberg Lodge No. 19 Vasa Order of America. Bernie was cherished by family and friends, known for his loyalty, integrity, and dedication to hard work. Known for his generosity, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid swimmer, enjoyed landscaping, but his primary love was family times with his wife, children, and grandchildren by whom he will be deeply missed.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves his two sons Robert and his wife Jean and children Erik and Lindsay of Le Grangeville, NY, and Jeffrey and his wife Karen and children Brittany and Lauren of Southington; a daughter Cynthia Johnson of Plantsville. He was predeceased by three brothers Oscar, Bernard, and Alrich, and three sisters Mabel, Gladys, and Betty.

Arrangements- Bernie's funeral will be held Wednesday June 6, 2012 10 A.M from The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in South End Burial Ground, South End Rd, Southington, CT. Calling hours will be held Tuesday June 5, 2012 from 4:30 P.M to 8 P.M at the funeral home.
