NAUGATUCK- Mr. Barry W. Arnold, 63, of 19 Shirley St., Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday evening July 4, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Lynn (Cota) Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was born in Waterbury, Feb. 25, 1947, a son of the late Oliver and Beverly (Sweet) Arnold and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. He was employed by Nationwide Northeast Trucking Co. for over 20 years. He was a U.S Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War, and was a past President of the former Naugatuck Volunteer Fire Dept. and a former member of the Naugatuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Besides his wife of over 40 years, he leaves, one son, Christopher E. Arnold and his wife Gail of Naugatuck; two daughters, Kimberly DiVergilio and her husband, Marc of Oakville, and Cynthia Arnold and her partner Nicole of New Rochelle, NY; one brother Eric Arnold and his wife, Kerry of Naugatuck, and 6 grandchildren, Kaila Arnold, Christopher Arnold, Matthew DVergilio, Jillian DiVergilio, Emily Lago and Nicolas Julian.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 214 Meadow St. Military honors will be accorded following the church service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396, or to the Shriner's Burn Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114-2601.
