WATERBURY - Ann J. Bozzuto, 93, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday November 4, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph M. Bozzuto, who passed away in 1999.

Mrs. Bozzuto was born in 1927, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Domenic and Carmela (Iodice) Crispino.

She was a lifelong Waterbury resident where she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was an active member of the church where she attended daily Mass and was involved with the Knitting Ministry, the St. Anne Society and Forever Young. She was a member of the South Waterbury Seniors and St. Francis Seniors.

Mrs. Bozzuto was known as a fantastic cook, baker, and cake decorator. She was an avid reader who had a great love of opera, animals, and crocheting. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and word games and loved playing Yahtzee. She enjoyed weekly bingo and trips to the casino.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, “Mama”, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

Mrs. Bozzuto is survived by her children Anthony Bozzuto (Deborah) of York, SC, Joann Bozzuto of Fall River, MA, Paul Bozzuto (Victoria) of Prospect, Mark Bozzuto (Bethany) of Plainville, Mary Ellen Bozzuto of Waterbury, and Stephen Bozzuto (Bernadette) of Waterbury; her grandchildren Nicholas Bozzuto (Diana), Christina McClelland (John), Nicole Bozzuto, Elise Bozzuto, James Bozzuto, and Michaela Bozzuto; her nieces Maria Ellis (Steve) and Cathy Filippone; her nephew Carl Bozzuto (Cindy); her four great grandchildren Thomas, Jack, Lila Mae, and Johnny. Her caregivers, Brigit Gendron, Norma Schiffer and Crystal Dimanno, were the angels in her life. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Vincent, Anthony, and Arthur Crispino, her sister Carmela Bozzuto, and her sister-in-law Marion Bozzuto. Special thanks to Dr. Arvind Suri for exceptional care and Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their dedication to her.

Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave, Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
