Adelaide Vieira

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Adelaide C. (Perriera) Vieira, 93, of 437 High St., died early Thursday morning July 2, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of the late Frank A. Vieira, who died in 1987 after 54 years of marriage.

Mrs. Vieira was born in Fall River, MA, Dec. 8, 1915, the daughter of the late Manuel C. and Maria U. (Medeiros) Perriera and had been a Naugatuck resident since moving here in 1946. She had been actively involved with the family Oil business for many years and was a former member of the Portuguese Club of Naugatuck.

She leaves two sons, Frank Vieira and is wife Florence, and John Vieira and his wife Barbara both of Naugatuck; 4 daughters, Dolores Ballantyne of Ipswich, MA, Marie T. Racevicius and her husband Harry of Woodbury, Joann Pace of Rocky Hill and Eileen Vieira of Meriden; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Monday July 6, 2009 at 10:30 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. and proceed to Bethel Baptist Church, 150 Union City Rd., Prospect for services at 11 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9 am until the procession leaves for church.
